Growing up we were taught to cook, garden, work on things and fend for ourselves... well we have learned a lot in our short existence. We can help Daddy rebuild motors and Momma make all sorts of foods, crafty projects. So this is a compilation of food photography and our randomness.

Red Combine
I took this back in January 2010 and happened across it a few days ago, I felt the verse fit with the weather and partial field being picked. I love black and white with a pop of focal color. ~Ashley~

Saw it on Pinterest... Home Made Magic Shell
When I was a kid just like any other kid ice cream was awesome, now ice cream on a birthday or other occasion is the only time I partake in the creamy frozen treat. Momma on the other hand likes a bowl on about a weekly basis topped with Magic Shell, so when I stumbled across this recipe via Pinterest from Alphamom it screamed try me!!!
The best part two ingredients so here's how.
10oz bag of Chocolate Chips
1/2 Cup of Solid Coconut Oil
Melt chips and oil in microwave for 1 minute this may vary depending on your microwave.
Mixture will be separated, stir together it will be very runny.
Once thoroughly stirred pour into a glass container we use canning jars.
And it WORKS!!!
Yes I was skeptical chocolate creations and I do not get along, normally a disaster.
Refrigerate. Microwave about 30 seconds and stir to use if not completely melted add another 30 seconds.
ENJOY

Shoot What You LOVE
Photography is something I have always loved often thinking of making it a career but lets be honest I am not a peopley people person. It's not that I don't like people I'm just peculiar about them. I may sort of have a short temper with the antics of the small ones as well not in a mean way just a let me smack the parents because they raised pure heathens kind of way. Therefore I shoot what I Love and who I Love, it doesn't matter that I don't get paid it's for me and those who like what I do. If you see it and like it great if not that's fine just be respectful about it, there is plenty of art that I just wonder what exactly was the thought processs in this but if the artist is happy about it then that is all that matters.
Shoot What YOU LOVE, Edit how YOU LOVE.
Your decisions should make YOU HAPPY don't worry if they make everyone else happy.
Here are some shots from Bogue Inlet Pier this summer that make me happy. ~A~

St. Patricks for the kids!
So seeing as St. Patricks day is on Saturday... the Leperchaun is coming early! My kindergarten kiddos have no earthly clue that tomorrow will be a day filled with making hats, cut and pasting pots of gold and best of all Shamrock floats (lime sherbert and soda) to go along with what will be a completely ransacked classroom deck out with glitter, mini green feet print and even a Leperchaun shamrock ladder that will go up to the ceiling! It was super fun last year when my partnership teacher and I did it for St. Pattys day during my internship. OH the look on there faces will be priceless! Not to mention... it's FUN FRIDAY! Pics of the room will come! :) ~M

Make a Wish
Love the weather in NC this last year, there have only been a few cold days this winter. I think some of October was colder than December and January. Dandelions have been abound and I absolutely love them. I spent the good part of an afternoon photographing them this is one of my favorites. Ashley
Sausage Balls
Sausage Balls
This is a staple in our house for any celebration or holiday for as long as I can remember reaching the kitchen table. Santa always gets sausage balls and tea and if Mrs. Clause is still up something sweet and milk to keep with the typical tradition. There is no telling how many variations have been made from the base recipe what ever sounded good has been added.
1 lb Jimmy Dean hot sausage cooked and drained. I prefer Neese's sausage the hot or extra hot variety. It is local and sold in most parts of NC and portions of VA and SC.
1 lb Extra sharp cheddar cheese finly shredded
2 Cups Jiffy Mix or other prepared biscuit mix
Opitional add ins. Basically anything you think may be good is worth a try our favorites are:
1-2 tsp Black Pepper
1-2 tsp Cayenne Pepper
1-2 tsp Chili Powder
2-3 Tbsp chopped pickled Jalapeno peppers
Don't use Habanero's they are too hot, you will get hiccups.
Preheat Oven to 350*
Mix shredded cheese and Jiffy Mix together add warm sausage and mix with hands until incorporated.
Roll into bite sized balls slightly smaller than a shooter sized marble.
Place on ungreased baking sheet about an inch to inch and a half apart. At this point they can be flash frozen and placed in Ziploc bag to cook later.
Bake 8-12min until golden. Depending on your oven cook time may vary.
If cooking from frozen thaw on baking sheet 15 min then cook 10-15 min or until golden
Store in an airtight container.
15 Minute Chili
15 Minute Chili
With all the recent cold weather it is time for somthing warm and spicy. This was created whe we had about 15 minutes to come up with supper, and as long as you have help it only takes about 15 minutes alone it takes a little longer.
1 Family size package Steakums or 1 lb ground hamburger cooked
2 10oz cans Rotel, we use Hot but depending on your spice preference you could use Mild or Original
2 1quart jars tomato juice
2.5 oz Chili Powder
2 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
2 Tablespoon Onion Powder
2 teaspoons Salt
In stock pot mix juice, Rotel, and spices heat on high, stiring often.
Cook meat in frying pan drain and add to stock pot.
Add more season to you taste.
Serve with toast, crackers, sour cream, cheese or your favorite chili toppings.

Technology
Well we finally decided to start working on our blog last night and after typing an entire recipe for Beef stew and Cornbread...my laptop freaked out with a virus that instantly closed everything I had open on my screen. Oh well another day. Needless to say I can use technology, but not always fix it.
